Meet John Joseph Britto: The VFX Supervisor Helping BOT Reach New Heights

2022 was a landmark year at BOT VFX. Fresh off the pandemic, the team dove into some of the most ambitious projects – Avatar: The Way of Water, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Adam, Wakanda Forever, and Beast. The work was big, and the ambition bigger.

John Joseph Britto joined BOT that year as DFX Supervisor, bringing with him over eighteen years of experience across some of the most respected studios in the VFX world. In recognition of his impact at BOT, he was promoted to VFX Supervisor - a role he has held since April 2024.

John's journey in VFX began in Mumbai, where he spent nearly two years at UTV Toons before joining Rhythm & Hues Studios. Over seven years there, he worked on projects ranging from The Golden Compass and The Incredible Hulk to the Oscar-winning Life of Pi - contributing to stereo 3D compositing at a time when the craft was still being defined.

John then moved to DNEG India, where he spent another seven years rising through the ranks, from Compositor to Compositing Supervisor, racking up credits on James Bond: No Time to Die, Avengers: Infinity War, Jungle Cruise, Justice League and Fast & Furious 9, among others.

At BOT, John’s vision is clear: to find the perfect confluence of art and technology, and use it to put Indian VFX artistry on the global map. What drew him to BOT was the culture - the fact that both the art and the artist are seen, recognised, and appreciated. He is building on that foundation and making our work something the world notices.
