BUILD-A-BOT WORK INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
botvfx's Build-A-Bot program was developed to allow artists who are still studying or have recently graduated to gain valuable practical training and relevant experience by spending time on the production floor under the supervision of a senior artist. During the 6-8 week part-time program, the artist is provided access to a workstation with the relevant software and given test assignments. The artist receives a training certificate upon completion of the program. This is an unpaid position, and seats are limited. Please provide basic information below to apply for the program.
There are many educational sites, artist community forums, reference material sites that you can immerse yourself in to get broad industry exposure and do deep dives on specific skills. While we can’t provide a thorough, all encompassing list, here are a few good choices:
VFXTalk.com
VFXPro.com
CGTalk.com
AWN.com
FXGuide.com
Visualeffectssociety.com
Generally not, unles the artist is being considered for a senior position and has extensive experience.
Although we predominantly perform rotoscopy and paint related services, we also consider artists with other skill sets on a case by case basis.
Since there are no typical artists – everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses – there is no such thing as a typical salary. We hire and offer salaries based on an assessment of the individual.
botvfx looks for artists with strong core skills and a sound understanding of the fundamental concepts first and foremost. Proficiency in software we use in our production pipeline is preferred, but not essential for qualifying for a position. We work mostly in Silhouette, Nuke and Shake.
botvfx mostly concentrates on international TV, advertising, and film projects.

WORKING IN CHENNAI
Chennai, the capital of the coastal state of Tamil Nadu, is the fourth largest metropolis in India. Hugging the world's second largest beach, Chennai is a wonderful amalgam of temples, churchyards and shopping destinations. Chennai is the heart of Tamil Cinema Kollywood; and also a leading technology contributor to the Indian cinema on the whole.
The people of Chennai are world-famous for their hospitality and warmth. Madrasis are also known for their love for "filter coffee" - great to keep the bots well-oiled, and their famous South Indian cuisine of idli/dosa. While Tamil is the most widely spoken language, with the IT boom, English comes in a very close second.
With the added attraction of a relatively lower cost of living than any of the other tier one or two cities in India, Chennai offers a more balanced lifestyle to its residents. The city provides a unique harmony with vast green spaces and water bodies in and around the city and an ever expanding cosmopolitan urban life. A paradise for water sports lovers, Chennai offers a variety of adventure activities, including fishing and boating to parasailing and scuba. Commuting is made fairly easy with around the clock bus service and rather roomy local trains on specific routes.
With the winding scenic stretches of highway running parallel to the infinite beaches on the East Coast, the road (aka ECR) offers easy access and great weekend gateways to both Mahabalipuram (a world heritage historical site) and Pondicherry. Chennai, being in the vicinity of the sea, also boasts several serene beaches where locals head for a respite from their daily routines.
